Here's some stuff that made it into the St. Louis Post Dispatch: a live shot that I don't remember taking at the Hi-Pointe and the album cover I designed for Sarah Cloud's Heavyweight based around a photograph I shot of her at the South Broadway Athletic Club.

Bar Bar 2000
This image reminds me of a place in Los Angeles that David Bornstien used to like to take me. The place didn't seem to have a name per se so he just called it Bar Bar. I think he even wrote "Welcome to Bar Bar" in the bathroom there.
Now, this picture was taken in Denver three or so years after David died and so has nothing to do with his Bar Bar, but the sort of generic nature of this shot-signs that indicate what it is and what they have but under no particular flag- stimulated that memory for me.

Well, looks like the mac is dead, so this may be the last one of these I'll be able to make for a while. Bummer.
On the upside, though, lots of scissorworks are getting made.

The Death of Kennealy's
Kennealy's Pub was a little hole-in-the-wall in the Soulard neighborhood of St. Louis which was open around 1999, 2000, 2001 and not much longer. Lotta great nights were were enjoyed there by a lotta people I know and knew. Many great shows were witnessed there, but remembered by few, I would imagine. It was a sort of nexus point for what seemed to me to be a lot of warm friendly feelings, magic moments and unexpected and exciting creativity. But like you'd expect, It couldn't last. I guess it was pretty badly mismanaged. I know I had my share of free drinks from outta that bar and I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one. The trio of owners, Steve Kennealy (pictured below), Tim Lehman, and Jack Shannon Scott all died after the fact, one by one, from alcohol-related symptoms and I heard they were dipping into the stock pretty heavily. I don't know. Whatever. Good times can't last. We all know that.
These were shot after the place had closed. I don't remember my occasion for being in the place at that point, but I remember how sad it was to see that little room so quiet and empty and lifeless.

Rocket Bar Confidential (2000)
Anyone remember the Rocket Bar?
Oh, sure you do.

Do any of you remember where you were on the night of April the Seventh, 2000?
Well, neither do I but here are some pictures from that night anyhow.
(Identities concealed to protect the guilty)
