Frozen Faces No.1

2001

I think now that, for sure, those statue photographs from the previous post were shot in Chicago in 2006. These, however, were made five years earlier at the St. Louis Museum of Art.

Frozen Faces No.2

2006

I love taking pictures of statues for some reason but I can't, for the life of me, remember where I shot all these. Chicago, maybe, or St. Louis.

Petrified

1998

Driving out of Phoenix on my way to St. Louis, I passed through the Petrified Forrest National Monument, I think. Or maybe not, but there was this road stop where this old guy was selling pieces of petrified wood and he had this lot filled with all kinds of crap, some of which were these mannequins set up to flag down passing motorists, I guess. Anyway, I stopped, stretched my legs a little and shot these pictures (among others) and, yes, I did buy some petrified wood.

Clock Repair Details

1999

Back in '99 I worked in a shop next to a clock repair in a place called Hog Hollow in Missouri. These images were made in that clock repair shop with the kind permission of the owner who was this really good guy just planted there fixing his old clocks amid all the fascinating clutter. Many of these images have since been used on different projects, both personal and commercial.
