Danielle Brisebois Sings "What If God Fell From The Sky" in 1995
"What If God Fell from the Sky" is a song by Danielle Brisebois, the first single off her 1994 album Arrive All Over You. The song is often compared to Joan Osborne's "One of Us", but in fact preceded it. In 2004, it was featured in the soundtrack to the film Saved!. An alternate version has surfaced on filesharing networks entitled "He Died on Christopher" with a new vocal take and every element of the track reversed except for the guitars.
What if God fell from the sky
Would you notice- or just walk by
What if christ took your hand
And you just ran
What if I couldn't see
I was twelve - so trusting
You take hands - put on me
You had needs
So don't tell me 'bout nothin'
Cuz I don't wanna know it
I don't wanna know it
Don't talk about your morals
If you ain't gonna show it
You ain't gonna show it
Don't tell me 'bout religion
If you ain't gonna live it
And you sure ain't living it
And don't talk about love
If you ain't gonna give it
What if God fell from the sky
Would you notice- or just walk by
What if christ took your hand
And you just ran
Would you be damned
Don't tell me 'bout nothing
Cuz uh - I don't wanna know it
I don't wanna know it
Don't talk about your morals
If you ain't gonna show it
And you ain't gonna show it
Don't tell me 'bout religion
If you ain't gonna live it
And you sure ain't living it
And don't talk about love (more on that later )
If you ain't gonna give it
What if God fell from the sky
Would you notice- or just walk by
What if christ took your hand
And you just ran
Would you be damned
M m m h m m
So take my hand
